A visit to Les Invalides can take half a day or more. You will need to refuel. Here is the lowdown on the onsite facilities.

Dining: Le Carré des Invalides

Located near the ticket office on the Place Vauban side.

  • The Vibe: It’s a cafeteria-style restaurant but with a touch of French flair. It’s clean, modern, and convenient.
  • The Food: Offers sandwiches, salads, hot plats du jour, and pastries. It’s decent "museum food"—good for a quick pitstop but not a Michelin experience.
  • Prices: Slightly elevated due to the location, but comparable to other Paris museums.

Local Tip: If you want a real Parisian meal, walk 5 minutes to the Rue Cler market street. It is packed with bistros, cheese shops, and cafes.

The Bookshop & Gift Shop

The museum shop is a paradise for history nerds.

  • Books: An incredibly extensive selection of military history books (mostly in French, but a good English section). From Osprey guides to heavy academic tomes.
  • Models: High-quality toy soldiers and model kits.
  • Souvenirs: Napoleon busts, medals, posters, and even replicas of historic jewelry. It’s one of the better museum shops in Paris if you want something classy rather than just a keychain.
