Transport Guide: How to Get to Musée de l'Armée & Invalides

Directions to Les Invalides. Best Metro lines (8 and 13), RER C, and walking routes from the Eiffel Tower.

Located in the 7th arrondissement, Les Invalides is central, but the complex is huge. Arriving at the wrong side can mean a 15-minute walk.

The Two Entrances

  1. Esplanade des Invalides (North Side): Best for the Museum galleries.
    • Metro: Invalides (Lines 8, 13, RER C).
    • Vibe: You walk across the grand grassy lawns with the Dome in front of you. majestic.
  2. Place Vauban (South Side): Best for the Dome (Napoleon’s Tomb).
    • Metro: École Militaire (Line 8) or Saint-François-Xavier (Line 13).
    • Vibe: A direct shorter walk to the ticket counters for the Tomb.

Walking from Neighbors

  • From Eiffel Tower: It’s a lovely 15-20 minute walk through the Champ de Mars and residential streets.
  • From Musée d'Orsay: Walk along the Seine (Quai d'Orsay) for about 15 minutes to reach the Esplanade.

Uber/Taxi

Ask to be dropped at "Place Vauban." It is closer to the ticket office and avoids the traffic of the Quai d'Orsay.
